A trained, certificated and motivated workforce is vital to satisfy the demands and expectations of our clients and industry regulators. Accordingly, the company invests significant resources in staff training and development.
A fundamental part of our training policy is to review training regularly and as part of this review, an annual training plan is developed to identify the areas and opportunities for continual staff training and improvement. This process ensures that all our workforce achieve and maintain the necessary skills to carry out their tasks correctly and safely.
All training provided is Construction Skills (CITB) approved and satisfies the NDTG, CSCS and CPCS Bodies.
As well as being registered with Construction Skills, we are members of the National Demolition Training Group and our employees are trained to CCDO level (Certificate of Competence for Demolition Operatives). As required by law, all our employees undertake an annual refresher asbestos awareness course. In addition it is company policy that they also undertake an annual demolition safety awareness course to ensure knowledge is continually updated.
All our Site Supervisors are NDTG trained and certificated Demolition Supervisors. Our supervisors were some of the very first such achievers of this distinction in 1997 when the course was first available. The relevant plant operators have also achieved CPCS certification in High Reach Demolition Plant Operations, again being one of the market leaders in this discipline.
All demolition operatives within the company have also undertaken Cat 2 Asbestos Removal training as the basic Awareness courses are not sufficient for non-licensable asbestos removal operations
Weekly tool box talks are provided on all sites to personnel as part of a general update/refresher process, with site specific topics incorporated where relevant and necessary.
To reinforce the company`s commitment to training, the Managing Director, David Clarke, was previously the Chairman of the NDTG. Under his chairmanship, the group became a fully independent training forum for the whole of the UK Demolition Industry in September 2007. It receives financial backing from Construction Skills, with the size of this funding based upon performance and is also now the leading body for NVQ achievements throughout the United Kingdom demolition industry.
